Video: US man stabs mother over 70 times because she ‘got on his nerves’
A 21-year-old man in Florida, US, allegedly murdered his mother by stabbing her over 70 times with a knife because she “got on his nerves”, police said.
Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Espinoza, a pre-med student at the University of Florida, reportedly arrived at his mother’s home in Frostproof “on the pretext of visiting her,” according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
Doorbell camera footage captured Espinoza holding a knife behind his back just before the attack. Dressed in jeans and black shades, he was listening to Jay Z and Kanye West’s ‘No Church In the Wild’ as he approached the home. He “charged in and started stabbing” his mother the moment she opened the door.
Sheriff Judd said at a press briefing, “He knocked on the front door, and when Mom opened the front door, he began to stab her. She ran from him, she was talking to a family member on the phone, and… he stabbed her until she fell down and died.”
According to the Sheriff’s account, Espinoza allegedly inflicted over 70 stab wounds and continued to attack his mother even as she lay on the ground.
Espinoza called 911 after the murder and confessed to the crime. Despite claiming to “really love” his mother, he allegedly told authorities that she had “annoyed him since childhood.”
The victim, an elementary school teacher, reportedly had no history of conflict with her son, police said.
Sheriff Judd revealed another disturbing detail: “Judd said Espinoza stabbed his mother in the chest and stomach as places he knew from his medical schooling that would be most effective.”
He noted that Espinoza had no history of mental illness or substance abuse. In fact, he was reportedly a high school valedictorian described by others as “remarkably brilliant.”
Espinoza has been charged with first-degree murder. The investigation into the murder is ongoing.
