Utah man kills wife, then dies by suicide days after chilling Facebook post

A man in the US’s Utah allegedly shot his wife dead before ending his own life months after they celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. The incident happened days after the man, Olin Johnson, 57, reflected on being a “crappy person” in his final Facebook post.

According to a report in KUTV, Johnson shot his 52-year-old wife, Kerilyn Johnson, before he turned the gun on himself.

While the police did not disclose a motive for the killing, Olin Johnson’s last Facebook post raised suspicions about his mental health.

“No matter how crappy a person I am, motorcycles always love me back. Oh and skiing. Skiing loves me too,” Olin’s post on June 18 read alongside pictures of him riding his bike and skiing.

The couple had six children together. Olin’s account featured a bio that read “father to 6 great kids and one beautiful wife”.

Kerilyn Johnson was taught at the BYU School of Music for the last two years.

According to KUTV, neighbours of the couple said they were playing softball with them the night before the shooting. They further said they didn’t notice any problems as Olin Johnson hinted at future plans.
