Congress chief Priyanka Gandhi on Thursday paid tributes to former high minister and her grandmother the overdue Indira Gandhi and mentioned whilst america has for the primary time elected a lady Kamala Harris as Vice President, India had selected Indira Gandhi to be High Minister 50 years in the past.
Taking to Twitter, Ms Gandhi wrote in Hindi: “Kamala Harris was US’ first lady Vice-President. At the anniversary of Indira Gandhi, it will have to be realised that India had selected a ladies High Minister 50 years in the past. Indira Gandhi’s braveness and power will at all times be an inspiration for ladies international.”
Born on November 19, 1917, to India’s first High Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Kamala Nehru, Indira Gandhi served as the primary and most effective lady high minister of the rustic from January 1966 to March 1977 and once more from January 1980 till her assassination in October 1984.
