Tripura CM Saha hails NDA’s ‘big victory in Bihar’, predicts next big political change in West Bengal

As the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) heads for a historic win in the Bihar Assembly elections, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha expressed confidence about Bihar’s political trend and hinted that the next big change is going to happen in West Bengal.

He was speaking to reporters on the outskirts of Agartala city, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for infrastructure and other facilities of a private university.

CM Saha said, “A big victory is likely to happen in Bihar. I, myself, went there (Bihar) and participated in the campaign at three Assembly constituencies of Champaran”.

CM Saha’s comments came shortly after the NDA hailed the emerging trend of crossing the 200-seat mark as a result of ‘Maha Good Bandhan’ as opposed to the Opposition’s ‘Mahagatbandhan’ or Grand Alliance.

CM Saha congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, and other central leadership for the impressive performance in Bihar.

He took a dig at RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and other Opposition parties, stating that they could not win as people were aware of their “gundaraj”.

Going a step further, the Chief Minister also said that after Bihar, West Bengal would be the next state to see an expected political change.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been eyeing Bengal since the last few elections and has amped up its activities in the state recently. Former Tripura Chief Minister and incumbent Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb was posted as campaign co-in-charge in September for the Bengal Assembly elections scheduled next year.

“A change is going to occur in West Bengal as well. The entire picture of the country would be different if West Bengal could be made free (from the oppressive, corrupt, and violent governance of TMC),” the CM said.

A series of clashes have occurred between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress in the last few months in West Bengal. The BJP has termed the attacks on saffron legislators and parliamentarians as the handiwork of TMC, an allegation denied by the Mamata government.

However, the Trinamool has flagged the BJP’s attack on Tripura state TMC headquarters recently, in which the saffron workers allegedly vandalised party flags and campaign materials.
