Reacting to the arrest of JNU alumnus and rights activist Umar Khalid in reference to the Delhi riots, West Bengal Leader Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday stated that motion will have to be taken if there may be proof of wrongdoing.

It appears hitting out on the BJP-led govt on the Centre, Banerjee, who has been considered one of its maximum stringent critics, stated the ones keen on “actions (towards NPR, NRC) were focused (via the ruling celebration)”.

“I too have observed it (the scoop od Khalid’s arrest) in newspaers. First they (the Centre) had named Sitaram Yechuri within the chargesheet and now they have got got rid of it. However, they have got put the names of Yogendra Yadav and others (within the chargesheet) … This isn’t proper in democracy. If anyone has performed one thing fallacious and you have got proof of it then motion will have to be taken as in line with legislation,” Banerjee advised journalists on the state secretariat.

Khalid was once arrested via Delhi Police past due on Sunday night time for his alleged involvement within the February Delhi riots case.
