Telangana student in Texas succumbs to injuries 3 months after accident

A 26-year-old Indian student from Telangana’s Mahabubabad died in the US after battling injuries sustained in a car accident in Texas three months ago.

Rohith Reddy Bandi had been hospitalised since he had experienced the accident on April 13. On July 24, he succumbed to his injuries despite receiving medical treatment.

“Rohith passed away on July 24 after a long battle with head injuries,” Rohan, Rohit’s brother, informed on GoFundMe page on July 27,

“Rohith sustained major injuries that resulted in several brain strokes, affecting about 70% of his brain, including critical regions responsible for basic life functions,” said Rohan.

After the accident, Rohith was first admitted to an ICU at Dell Seton Hospital in Austin. He underwent major surgery and was placed on a ventilator. Later, he was transferred to Select Speciality Hospital in Dallas Plano, for continued specialised treatment.

Rohith was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of North Texas. His parents, Anil Reddy and Anitha Reddy, hail from Gundrathimadugu Village in Telangana’s Kuravi Mandal, reported The Times of India.

Rohan, the brother, earlier mentioned that his brother’s medical expenses were substantial and shooting-up daily.

“As the expenses for his medical care are substantial and growing daily, we are setting up a fund to cover his ongoing medical costs and rehabilitation,” Rohan stated on the GoFundMe page, an online fundraising platform.

Rohan confirmed that his brother’s body is expected to arrive home on Wednesday or Thursday, reported The Times of India.
