Tamil Nadu: 3 arrested for forcing Dalit boys to hold their excreta

The Sirukudal village has been reportedly experiencing caste conflicts for years.

3 higher caste youths were arrested in Tamil Nadu for allegedly forcing 5 minor Dalit boys to scrub up their excreta from floor. The incident came about close to Sirukudal village in Perambalur district on Friday.

Consistent with stories, the lads, elderly 10-15 years, had long gone to alleviate themselves in an open floor. On seeing them, the accused allegedly requested them to take away their excreta from the bottom and raise them in gunny luggage that the higher caste youths passed over to them.

The accused were known as Abinesh (20), Selvakumar (24) and Silambarasan (22). They have got been arrested below the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

The incident prompted stress within the village with the households of the lads, together with contributors of the Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi, blocking off the village street difficult justice for the minors. The villagers withdrew the protest after police confident them of motion towards the accused.
