Sonia Gandhi discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, faces ED probe on June 23
Congress president Sonia Gandhi (75) was discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Monday evening after undergoing treatment for a fungal infection in her lower respiratory tract following a Covid-19 infection, party MP Jairam Ramesh informed.
“Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has been discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital this evening and advised rest at home,” Ramesh, who is also the Congress’s communication in-charge, tweeted.

She is scheduled to be questioned by the Enforcement Directorate on June 23 in connection with a money-laundering investigation it is carrying out into the affairs of the National Herald newspaper.
She was rushed to the hospital with a profuse of nose bleed and other complications following a Covid-19 infection previous Sunday. During the workup at the hospital, the doctors detected a fungal infection in the lower respiratory tract for which she had to undergo a procedure.
Gandhi tested positive for Covid-19 and developed a mild fever ten days before the hospital admission. “She is currently being treated for it along with other post-Covid symptoms. She continues to be under close observation and treatment,” a statement from AICC on Friday said.
Both Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have been visiting Sonia at the hospital. The Congress president was accompanied to the hospital by her daughter Priyanka. On June 12, minutes after a section of the emergency was cordoned off after she was admitted, her son Rahul Gandhi was also by her hospital bed.
The Congress president usually undergoes treatment at the hospital under chest physician Dr Arup Basu.
