Sattra Basishta Deva Sarma Conferred Srimanta Sankaradeva Award


Guwahati, Sep 26: Assam’s Srimanta Sankaradeva Award 2017 used to be on Saturday conferred on eminent Vaishnavite student, author and ‘Satradhikar of Barpeta’ Sattra Basishta Deva Sarma. Leader Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, presenting the state executive award at a serve as, mentioned, “We’re glad to have conferred the coveted award at the ‘Satradhikar’ who has devoted his lifestyles for the promotion of ‘Sattra’ (monastery) tradition and propagation of the lessons of (15- 16th century Vaishnavite polymath) Srimanta Sankaradeva.” The award carries a quotation, a ‘sarai’ (conventional Assamese bell steel merchandise), ‘angabastra’ (shawl), a gold souvenir and a cheque of Rs five lakh.

“Srimanta Sankaradevas teachings are inherently ingrained with the virtues of humanity. So by way of emulating the lifetime of Gurujona and following his teachings, one can transform a just right human being,” Sonowal added.
