Punjab BJP leader Ashwani Sharma and over 40 others were charged for allegedly violating the COVID-19 tips, police mentioned on Monday.
Mr Sharma and others were accused of maintaining a political assembly at Ghartholi Mohalla on Sunday. They’ve been charged beneath the related sections of the IPC, the Crisis Control Act and the Epidemic Sicknesses Act, the mentioned.
Pictures of the political assembly went viral on social media, the police mentioned.
Police reputable Mandeep Salgotra mentioned that Vicky Rampal, an aide of Ashwani Sharma, had allegedly organised the political assembly at his ward in violation of the COVID-19 tips.
On the other hand, the executive of the Punjab unit of BJP dubbed the registration of case towards him and celebration employees a “determined transfer” of the ruling Congress to “muffle the voice of justice”.
