President Kovind dismisses plea to disqualify YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP

President Ram Nath Kovind has pushed aside a plea to disqualify YSRCP Rajya Sabha Member V Vijayasai Reddy, accusing him of keeping an place of job of benefit.

TDP chief C Ramakotaiah filed a petition filed beneath Article 102 (1) (a) of the Charter of India, claiming that Reddy held place of job of benefit as he were appointed a Particular Consultant of the Andhra Pradesh Executive at Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi.

President Kovind referred the petition to the Election Fee (EC), in the hunt for its opinion.

The EC opined that during view of the provisions contained within the Parliament (Prevention of Disqualification) Act, 1959, Reddy didn’t incur disqualification for being a Member of Parliament.

In keeping with the opinion given by means of EC, the President pushed aside the plea for Reddy’s disqualification. He mentioned that Reddy used to be elected to Rajya Sabha on June three, 2016, and used to be appointed a Particular Consultant on June 22, 2019. Alternatively, the order used to be cancelled on July four, 2019 because it used to be deemed that he used to be keeping an place of job of benefit. Reddy used to be as soon as once more appointed as Particular Consultant on July 7, 2019, with the order declaring that he would now not be entitled to any perks instead of taking part in the standing of a ‘State Visitor’ all the way through his legit travels to Andhra Pradesh in connection together with his tasks as Particular Consultant.
