Kharge scheduled to attend Northeast rally next week
Kharge, who has been leading the All India Congress Committee (AICC), is scheduled to travel to Kohima on October 7 to address a major public rally at Naga Solidarity Park. The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee announced that the gathering is expected to draw at least 10,000 people.
At the rally, ‘Safe Democracy, Safe Secularism, and Safe Nagaland’, Kharge is expected to speak on issues such as youth employment, entrepreneurship, governance, and connectivity. Following the event, Kharge is slated to hold meetings with senior Congress leaders in the state.
National figures, including Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal and Nagaland in-charge Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka will accompany him. NPCC leaders have called the rally a launchpad for a larger Congress campaign in the Northeast, addressing concerns over AFSPA, governance, and constitutional rights.
Despite his hospitalisation, Kharge’s upcoming political engagements remain on schedule, with the party underscoring that his health is stable ahead of the pacemaker procedure.
