Kerala Meeting Polls: In Rahul Gandhi’s Wayanad, 4 Leaders Surrender Congress Or Party Posts

Rahul Gandhi has been campaigning in Kerala and Tamil Nadu in contemporary weeks.

Thiruvananthapuram:

No less than 4 Congress leaders have both left the party or stepped down from key positions in an issue of per week in Rahul Gandhi’s constituency of Wayanad in Kerala, forward of the state Meeting polls. They’ve cited organisational disinterest and “groupism” as causes for his or her departure. Whilst senior leaders have moved in to take on the location and play it down as inconsequential, the exits don’t bode neatly for the party because it seems to be to go back to energy within the state after 5 years.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Wayanad, for the primary time contesting from an extra constituency – he ultimately misplaced his circle of relatives stronghold of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

The transfer to Wayanad was once, alternatively, considered as a key explanation why for the party-led United Democratic Entrance (UDF) alliance sweeping 19 of the 20 seats within the state. The UDF is now in search of inspiration from that efficiency to take at the Left Democratic Entrance (LDF) executive within the Meeting polls scheduled for April 6. Then again, within the December 2020 native frame polls, it was once the LDF that did neatly.

It’s within the backdrop of this seesawing of electoral fates that the problem of attrition has now cropped up within the UDF. And that, too, in what was once until lately believed to be a Congress bastion since Mr Gandhi’s Lok Sabha win.

Amongst those that have left the party or resigned from essential positions are District Congress Basic Secretary PK Anil Kumar, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Secretary MS Vishwanathan, former KPCC member KK Vishwanathan, and Mahila Congress chief Sujaya Venugopal.

No less than one in all them has reportedly joined an LDF best friend already.

Party stalwart Ok Sudhakaran, dispatched to defuse the location, stated, “There’s a false impression that leaders in Wayanad are quitting en masse. So far as the Congress is anxious, there’s no downside. Two of our leaders joined the Left events. However two CPI(M) leaders have joined the Congress as neatly.”

Mr Gandhi, in the meantime, has been actively campaigning in Kerala and neighbouring Tamil Nadu during the last few weeks.
