Kanjur Marg Land For New Mumbai Metro Automotive-Shed Belongs To Us, Centre Now Writes To Maharashtra

The political battle between Maharashtra and the Central executive over the website of a Metro car-shed refuses to die down. Now the Union executive’s Division for Promotion of Trade and Inner Business (DPIIT) has despatched out a letter to the state asking it to restrain the Mumbai Metropolitan Area Construction Authority (MMRDA) from sporting out any paintings on the Kanjur Marg location.

The letter, addressed to Maharashtra Leader Secretary Sanjay Kumar, says the land belongs to the Govt of India and might be “towards the passion of GOI”.

It additional states, “The unsuitable and unilateral motion of the Collector, MSD, and MMRDA has led to serious loss to the DPIIT, Govt of India. I’d request you to direct the Collector to withdraw the orders handed on this regard so as to give protection to the pursuits of the Govt of India.”

The letter contradicts what the Maharashtra executive and Leader Minister Uddhav Thackeray were pronouncing: That The Kanjur Marg plot belongs to the state of Maharashtra. It claims to belong to salt pan land thus escalating the confrontation between the Centre and the state.

In early October, CM Thackeray introduced that the Metro car-shed can be shifted from the contentious Aarey plot to Kanjur Marg, which belongs to state executive, at 0 value.

On the other hand, the chief of opposition and ex-CM, Devendra Fadnavis, claims this shift will lead to a price escalation and delays. He additionally claimed the Kanjur Marg land is delicate land and no longer are compatible for the Metro car-shed.
