IUML strikes SC towards MHA order inviting packages for citizenship from non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan


The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) Tuesday moved the Superb Courtroom to stick an MHA notification permitting citizenship grant to non-Muslim minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bar and Bench has reported.

The Centre had on Friday invited non-Muslims like Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists belonging to Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan and living in 13 districts in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Punjab to use for Indian citizenship.

The Union house ministry issued a notification on this impact for fast implementation of the order below the Citizenship Act 1955 and Regulations framed below the regulation in 2009 even supposing the foundations below the Citizenship Modification Act (CAA) enacted in 2019 are but to be framed through the federal government.

“In workout of powers conferred below Phase 16 of the Citizenship Act, 1955 (57 of 1955), the central govt hereby directs that powers exercisable through it for registration as citizen of India below Phase 5, or for grant of certificates of naturalisation below phase 6 of the Citizenship Act 1955 in admire of someone belonging to minority group in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan particularly, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians, living within the districts discussed and the states discussed under….,” the house ministry notification stated.
