CHAKRA 3 ATTACK SUBMARINE

India has signed a new defense deal with Russia. The deal is for Indian navy under this deal India is going to get Akula class nuclear submarine for 10 years lease. Indian navy is currently operating one this class of submarine named as chakra II, and the new submarine whose deal has been done is named as Chakra III. It will be handed over to Indian navy after 6 year in 2025.

 

 

As the old chakra II is also on lease from 2012 and was for 10 year to Indian navy now government is planning to increase its lease time as per the sources.

Indian navy have to counter chine’s activity in Indian Ocean for that this second nuclear submarine chakra III is important for Indian navy. As seen china is increasing its navy power in Indian ocean for that Indian navy is making plan to counter chine’s activity.

This submarine will play a vital role in security of nation. China has 10 nuclear submarine and 60 diesel based submarine which is far superior to India in terms of numbers.   

India is currently operating 13 old submarines, 1 scorpion class INS KALVARI and indigenous nuclear power INS ARIHANT and one secretly launched submarine will join in 2021 in navy.

Russia is providing India a major help in all defense purposes as India Russia relation are on good from a time. Now India is also working on indigenous developed submarines in this INS ARIHANT is an example. INS ARIHANT is ingenuously developed nuclear powered submarine by India and has completed its patrol.

India and Russia are very close defense partner from a long period of time. Russia has transferred many technology to India. From kargil war Russia always helped India in defense sector and keep on doing. Now a new chakra 3 submarine is provided by Russia to Indian navy to secure Indian ocean.
