Heavy rain expected in Kerala, orange alert sounded in 7 districts

The India Meteorological Division (IMD) Friday sounded orange-level rain signals in seven districts of Kerala, predicting remoted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the following few days within the backdrop of a most likely formation of low-pressure space over northeast Bay of Bengal.

“Beneath the affect of most likely formation of a low-pressure Space over Northeast Bay of Bengal and the resultant strengthening of lower-level winds alongside the West Coast together with Kerala, in style rainfall with remoted heavy to very heavy falls are most likely over Kerala all the way through 19th-21st September 2020,” the IMD mentioned in a different bulletin launched at three:30 pm Friday.

The orange alert has been sounded in Kottayam and Idukki districts on September 19, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on September 20 and Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on September 21.

With robust winds starting from 45-60 kmph velocity anticipated within the sea between September 18-22, fishermen were prompt to not cross out to the ocean.
