Hardik Pandya seeks divine intervention at Somnath Temple with Mumbai Indians in trouble in IPL 2024

A video of Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya went viral on Friday where he was seen offering prayers at the Somnath Temple in Gujarat.

The video, which was released by Somnath Temple Trust, was shared by ANI on their X feed. “Indian Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya offers prayers at Somnath Temple,” the video was captioned.

The Mumbai Indians under Pandya hasn’t had the ideal start to the Indian Premier League (OPL) season, having lost 3 out of the 3 matches they have played, with their recent defeat coming against the Rajasthan Royals in April 1 at Wankhede.

Returning to the franchise of his formative years after a fruitful two-year stint with Gujarat Titans, Pandya’s takeover as captain from MI’s most successful skipper Rohit Sharma has irked fans of the five-time champions. So much so that Pandya has endured boos from the crowd across all three matches thus far, in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and at home at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 1.

Loud jeers during the toss against the Rajasthan Royals also prompted a bizarre intervention from presenter and commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar, who asked the crowd to “behave”.

In IPL 2014 as well, Mumbai Indians lost the first five matches but, then won seven of the remaining nine, to scrape through to the Playoffs, where they succumbed to Chennai Super Kings, in the Eliminator.

Festive offer

In IPL 2015, they lost four in a row but ended up winning the title.
