GLAAD Media Awards: Christina Aguilera, “A League of Their Own,” and More

“A League of Their Own” hit it out of the park at last night’s GLAAD Media Awards, taking home the honor for Outstanding New TV Series. The updated take on Penny Marshall’s 1992 film will conclude with a four-episode second season on Prime Video with a premiere date TBA. “Broad City’s” Abbi Jacobson co-created the queer dramedy about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Christina Aguilera accepted the Advocate for Change Award and used her acceptance speech to call out bigotry. “I have a big problem with injustice, particularly towards the trans community that has faced so much hardship,” the five-time Grammy winner said, per Deadline. “So I always hoped I could use my music to speak up for others who didn’t have a voice. That’s why I am so grateful to GLAAD for this award, and for the work you do to get the LGBTQ community heard.”

Margaret Cho hosted the event, which will stream on Hulu April 12.

Head over to Deadline to check out more winners from the GLAAD Media Awards.
