Egypt’s parliament has approved the deployment of troops outdoor the rustic after the president threatened army motion in opposition to Turkish-backed forces in Libya.
The transfer may just carry Egypt and Turkey, shut US allies that reinforce rival aspects in Libya’s chaotic proxy warfare, into direct disagreement. President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi has known as the strategic coastal town of Sirte a “purple line” and warned that any assault in town would suggested Cairo to interfere militarily to give protection to its western border with the oil-rich nation.
Egypt’s Area of Representatives, full of supporters of President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, licensed plans to ship troops to “protect Egyptian nationwide safety” after a closed-door consultation on Monday.
Egypt backs eastern-based Libyan forces whilst Turkey helps combatants allied with the U.N.-supported executive in Tripoli, within the west.
