The CBI has arrested a department supervisor of Financial institution of Baroda for allegedly taking bribe from a farmer for clearing his agriculture mortgage, officers stated Friday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) performed searches on the place of abode of accused department supervisor Kiran Thakre of Parola Department, Jalgaon in Maharashtra and an agent all the way through which Rs 10 lakh used to be recovered in money.

The CBI had charged the 2 for receiving a bribe of Rs 75,000 from the complainant for sanction and disbursement of agriculture mortgage of Rs 7.10 lakh to the farmer who gave a grievance to the company, they stated.

The department supervisor allegedly took a clean cheque from the farmer for clearing his mortgage, Mr Gaur stated, terming it a “distinctive modus operandi” in bribery instances.
