Bobachee – The New Restaurant In Delhi Offers A Culinary Journey Into Pre-Partition Flavours With Modern Twist

Recently opened in the heart of Delhi, Bobachee emerges as a culinary sanctuary, celebrating the vibrant but long-forgotten pre-partition flavours with a modern twist. Helmed by the esteemed owners of Moti Mahal Delux, Princess Garden, and China Doll, Bobachee promises an extraordinary dining experience where history meets innovation. I decided to visit it and was welcomed warmly by Mr. Yuvraj Kohli, Owner and Head Chef at Bobachee. His passion for his work shone through the menu and the food.

Ambience and Atmosphere:

Upon entering Bobachee, I was immediately struck by its expansive yet intimate setting. The minimalist decor, adorned in soothing colours, creates an ambience that exudes sophistication without being intimidating. The centrepiece is undoubtedly the large, inviting bar, which lifted up the architecture and the spirit of the diners. I was surprised to see the large 2-storey establishment bustling with patrons, which just proves its burgeoning popularity among Delhi’s discerning diners.

Culinary Exploration:

I started the evening with a cocktail (of course) – Bourbon Fig. The highlight of the drink was the homemade orange balsamic syrup and bourbon-infused fig, which imparted freshness and flavour to the drink. It was as refreshing as it was delicious. Next, it was Whisky Sour – it was again a delightful drink. Although I should mention that I have had a better Whisky Sour, it was nevertheless, good enough to soar my spirits.

Accompanying the drinks was my favourite appetiser – Butter Garlic Prawns. And Bobachee didn’t disappoint with the succulent prawns flavoured perfectly with garlic and the rich lusciousness of butter. It was perfect. I also had Salmon Nigiri sushi, which was presented well and tasted even better. Just the way authentic sushi should be.

Then my taste buds craved Indian flavours, so I had Potato and Cottage Cheese Croquettes – a modern interpretation of aloo and paneer pakoda – and it was bursting with desi flavours and creamy cheese. It was so delicious that I wiped it off the plate in minutes.

The menu had so many other options – from classic Indian dishes like Amritsari Dal Tadka and Nalli Nihari, and international options like Shepherd’s Pie and Meat Sizzlers but I was already full, so I curbed my temptation for next time.

But I obviously had some space left for desserts. Tiramisu and Cheesecake were mind-blowing – a perfect end to a perfect evening!
