The ruling BJP retained the Majuli (ST) meeting constituency with its candidate Bhuban Gam defeating the joint opposition candidate Chittaranjan Basumatary of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) through 42,141 votes in a bypoll, election place of work assets mentioned on Thursday.
