Athletes from world over decry execution of Iranian wrestler Navid Afkari


Convicted for allegedly stabbing a safety guard to demise in 2018, Iranian wrestler Navid Afkari had claimed he used to be tortured into creating a false confession.

Iranian champion wrestler Navid Afkari has been performed after being convicted of stabbing to demise a safety guard right through anti-government protests in 2018, state media stated on Saturday.

Afkari used to be performed “this morning after felony procedures have been performed on the insistence of the fogeys and the circle of relatives of the sufferer,” the media quoted the pinnacle of the justice division within the southern Fars province as pronouncing.

The case had attracted global outcry.

Afkari had stated he used to be tortured into creating a false confession, in line with his circle of relatives and activists, and his legal professional says there’s no evidence of his guilt.

Iran‘s judiciary has denied the torture claims.

An international union representing 85,000 athletes known as on Tuesday for Iran’s expulsion from international game if it performed Afkari.

US President Donald Trump often known as on Iran this month to not execute the wrestler.
