Hilaria Baldwin Reveals She’s In Therapy With Alec To Make Age Gap Romance Work! – Perez Hilton

Hilaria and Alec Baldwin are doing whatever it takes to make things work.

The Dancing with the Stars performer revealed she and the 30 Rock alum are in therapy to make their 26-year age gap work! While on Thursday’s episode of the Uncut and Uncensored podcast, the 41-year-old told host Caroline Stanbury about the highs and lows of being married to the 67-year-old:

“I don’t believe that age is just a number, at least in our situation. There are certain things where I have to look at him and say, ‘He has 26 more years of experience.’ And sometimes that’s a flex, and sometimes that means that we need to do a little therapy.”

What are their challenges? For one, she said from the very beginning of their relationship, she felt like “in many ways” she lost “part of [her] identity when [she] married Alec” because of his fame and not being as “clear as [she] should have been with [herself] about [her] identity,” rather than listening to what trolls say. Beyond that, she kept it cryptic, pointing out:

“Do we have our hard moments? Do we have our normal, marital arguments? One hundred percent. But it’s the desire to both want to be there and to both want to make it work. When you have that, I think you can go through anything together.”

The former yoga instructor didn’t dive too much deeper into specifics about marriage issues they work through in therapy, but she did reveal that it was actually Alec who pushed for a large family — they’ve had seven kids since tying the knot in 2012! The fake Spaniard seems to think it’s tied to his past, she explained:

“Can I tell you, he’d have more. I’m the one who’s like, no more, thank you very much. He would have more. He’s the second oldest of six.”

Pointing to the Beetlejuice star’s “notorious, complicated relationship” with his first wife Kim Basinger and their daughter Ireland Baldwin, she added:

“I think he wanted a chance to do it in a different way and make different choices.”

It’s never too late to start over! But we guess things can just sort of get complicated when you’re in a different stage of life than the person you’re starting over with. It’s not surprising to hear the age gap can make their relationship extra challenging!

But while having seven kids run around may seem like a lot, Hilaria gushed that she and Alec relish in it:

“Ultimately, we always remind ourselves, there’s such beauty to it. It was very well thought out.”

We guess for them, their 26-year age gap is just another hurdle they’re choosing to leap over! And there’s certainly nothing wrong with going to couples therapy — having a safe space to talk through anything can be so helpful and healthy for relationships!
