Donald Trump aide accuses India of indirectly funding Russia’s war in Ukraine
A top aide to Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, has accused India of funding the Russia-Ukraine war through its continued purchase of Russian oil. Miller stated, “it is not acceptable for India to continue financing this war by purchasing the oil from Russia.” He noted that people would be shocked to learn that India is nearly tied with China in buying Russian oil. India Today Global’s Pranay Upadhyay provides context, explaining that this expectation from the U.S. is not new and that India’s stance has consistently been driven by its national interest and vast energy requirements. India has maintained it will source oil from wherever it is available at a competitive price, and that this Russian oil, once refined in India, also serves other countries, including in Europe.
