Tripura CM Manik Saha likely to expand Cabinet today


Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is likely to expand the Cabinet Thursday, in the second term of the Bharatiya Janata Party-Tipra Motha-Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura coalition government.

According to the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhawan in Agartala in the afternoon, where a minister or ministers will be sworn into the cabinet headed by Chief Minister Manik Saha.

No confirmation was available from the Assembly secretariat on the issue, but a letter from the joint secretary to the House secretary sought the ceremonial mace in connection with the swearing-in ceremony at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhawan.

While there is no confirmation about new inclusions, sources said MLAs from the ruling BJP are likely to be sworn in as ministers in the Tripura Cabinet.

Tripura has two vacant berths in its 12-member Cabinet. The current Cabinet comprises 10 members, including eight ministers from the BJP, one from the IPFT, one from Tipra Motha, and one minister of state from the same party.
