The food and beverage scene in Bengaluru has experienced a temporary setback in the past two years. However, the year 2024 is expected to be the year of business as usual. Bengaluru’s bar and restaurant scene is anticipated to come alive in a year that will see premier national chains add the city to their footprint, as well as strong local brands making their debut. Neighbourhood dining is expected to become more evolved, even as the CBD comes back into the mix with all-new hotspots like Rex Forum Walk, adding a whole new dimension to destination dining in the city.

1. LUPA 

Manu Chandra’s first solo restaurant venture takes its name from La Lupa (the legendary she-wolf) of Roman mythology. It’s designed to recreate the warmth and casual vibe of a classic Italian trattoria. We appreciate the gelato bar and the salumeria (the small plates bar) that serves cold cuts. This Italian restaurant is split into multiple spaces with distinct designs and is one of the many restaurants that have put the spotlight back on the Bengaluru CBD.

2. Koko 

One of Mumbai’s premier Asian dining destinations (with a slant of Cantonese and Japanese cuisine) made its Bengaluru debut in 2023. Spread over three levels and 12,000 sq. ft. on Old Airport Road, Koko’s signature creations include its yellowtail carpaccio and black rice edamame roll.

3. one8 Commune 

Virat Kohli’s iconic establishment kept its date with Bengaluru at a unique location with views of Cubbon Park and the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium. This multi-faceted dining destination features an innovative and transcendental cocktail menu with signature cocktails like the Galactic Gala with galangal and Californian white grapes. The food menu is a fusion of modern contemporary and global cuisines with Virat Kohli’s favourites like the Tartare Topped Avocado and Mushroom Googly Dim Sum. 

4. Pangeo 

The name takes inspiration from Pangea – the supercontinent that brings the world together. Located in one of the city’s hottest new culinary destinations, this large establishment (16,000 sq. ft.) features multiple spaces – including a Chivas XV lounge for those seeking fine malts and culinary experiences. We recommend checking out their cocktails that feature myriad ingredients ranging from Bengaluru’s very own Mysore Pak to Japanese umeshu.

5. Foo 

One of the most impressive Pan Asian debuts, Foo delivers a vibrant dining experience. It’s spread over 5500 sq. ft. and two levels with multiple spaces. The interiors complement the theatrics on your plate – Foo’s Blue Butter Japanese Fried Rice paired with Yellow Curry hit many of our Insta feeds. Foo boasts a high-energy vibe, artisanal cocktails, delicious dim sums, and massive dessert platters.

6. Burma Burma

One of India’s best-known specialty Burmese chains added a new outpost in Bengaluru as part of its pan-Indian footprint. The restaurant is full of showstoppers like the gate-like wrought-iron partitions and a bright blue faux window. The menu includes quite a few Burmese-inspired dishes like Samuza Hincho, Mekong Curry, and Rangoon Baked Milk, showcasing a variety of Burmese-inspired delicacies.
